This winter has been unbelievably mild in NYC. My heaviest coats haven’t left the closet yet and I’m not sure if they will at all this year.
It’s the last week of January and I find myself getting more use out of mid-weight jackets (like this badass suede bomber) than any of my heavy parkas.
Typically these would be more Spring-appropriate outfits, but I have to keep it real with what I’ve been wearing lately.
Here I styled a warm-but-not-heavy bomber jacket for three different mild winter occasions.
1. Business Casual
A bomber jacket in a classic shape, luxurious fabric (like leather or suede) and neutral color (like this awesome grey/olive) can easily swap-out a suit jacket to turn a “corporate” look into a “business casual” look.
As proof, this is actually the exact same outfit as the first look in
this post, all I changed was the jacket (and scarf, of course).
A bomber jacket (whether it’s suede, denim, leather, cotton, etc.) should fit snug through the body and sleeve, and hit just a few inches below the waistband.

Like I said, this is usually one of my go-tos in the Spring.
It’s casual, easy, and masuline. Perfect for watching the game with the boys – either at the bar or the arena.
With a simple combination of v-neck sweater + chinos + shades, this is one of those “confident cool” looks that reminds me of the classic men of old Hollywood – guys like James Dean and Steve McQueen.

You have to adapt to unexpected weather. As I’ve written before: check the forecast and dress for the current conditions, not what you expect from the calendar’s precedent.
For all these in-between, kind-of-cold days I’ve found it comfortable to use a thin turtleneck as an insulating layer under a heavier sport shirt. Many of my looks are born out of practicality and comfort, and this is a good example.
This jacket works with just about everything. In truth, I was wearing a different jacket over this look and just quickly changed it to complete this blog entry.
That goes back to the thesis of
this post – a wardrobe should be built with versatility and
interchangeability as its top priorities.

Trebuie sa recunosc ca atunci cand am vazut prima data aceasta colectie, am inceput sa „fredonez” in cap „Greaaaase liiighting!”. Casual chic, se pare ca sezonul primavara-vara 2012 aduce pe strazile din toata lumea, in special America, stilul preppy al baiatului de facultate.
Desi mi se pare ceva interesant pentru tinutele de zi cu zi, astfel de taietura nu este tocmai epitoma costumului clasic. Saptaman trecuta am putut sa vad intr-un film un costum business cu o astfel de taietura si tare aiurea arata – sa nu mai zic ca actorul purta sosete albe. Big no no, yet si brand-ul McQueen propune aceasta “tendinta”!
