I spotted this watch today while at the Ermenegildo Zegna store here in NYC and, even side-by-side with their plush cashmere sweaters and high-end ties in a glass dome display, my eyes still went straight for it. Gildo Zegna, a watch enthusiast and man of ultimate Italian style, created this new Monterubello line, for which Zegna teamed up with the high-end pros at Girard-Perregaux. It's based off of a 19th-century pocket watch that used to belong to Michelangelo Zegna, Gildo's great-grandfather, who was a watchmaker by trade. And with a 38mm rose gold casement, sapphire anti-reflective crystal, and matte alligator strap, the Monterubello Solo Tempo has the same plush feeling as everything else by Ermenegildo Zegna. So, even if you don't have "your grandfather's watch," with this one, you'll at least have someone's.
$14,800, available at Ermenegildo Zegna stores including New York, Manhassett, and Beverly Hills
