Maybe Yohji Yamamoto is right about 'fast fashion,' and maybe that's why we can't seem to remember reading an intriguing, introspective interview with a mens designer online recently. Well, The Talks provided one this afternoon, as Yamamoto discussed Asian traditions, androgyny, and his feelings on avant-garde. The man was thoughtful and concise, his opinions firm: "...a pair of brilliantly cut cotton trousers can be more beautiful than a gorgeous silk gown." Fashion can be messy: the Y-3 designer has admittedly been beaten back by it before, and like many, he returned to the game refreshed and focused. No offense to Yamamoto, but there's really no chance he could be anything but what he is: he simply looks too damn fresh with that cigarette.
