We've been following along with Ernest Sabine and David Lim for the past several months, as
they've given us a behind-the-scenes look at their denim and bag collaborations for a segment we call "Design Diary." The finished products, for spring of next year, are beautiful, and play up the strengths of each brand, design and aesthetic-wise. We recently checked in with both Sabine and Lim as they gave us their final thoughts on the Ernest Alexander x Kasil Workshop collaboration, showed off the collections in their entirety, and offered a glimpse into their lookbooks for next season.
Ernest Sabine from Ernest Alexander:
Collaboration Collection
Here is a final shot of the entire collaboration. It was exciting to see it all come together as a finished set. We ended up adding iPad cases in both regular and reverse selvedge; I love how they play off the custom pair of denim that David made. This shot was taken by our product photographer Charles Nesbit. He is a master at capturing color and detail. He shoots our products with an enormous Hasselblad camera while standing on a ladder. We are now in the midst of selling the line to stores, and have a great list of retailers lined up for Spring 2012.
Fall 2011 Campaign Images
Next month we will be launching a new collection of Ernest Alexander shirts and jackets and so we thought it would be fun to mix the custom Kasil x EA denim into our photoshoot. The denim felt like a natural pairing with our oxfords and work shirts. Here are a few preview shots from our upcoming fall campaign shot by Eric Ryan Anderson. I love that mix of raw and refined: classic American heritage paired with finely tailored garments. Working with David was such a pleasure, and I could definitely see us teaming up together on future projects!
David Lim from Kasil Workshop:
The collaboration with Ernest has been exhilarating. The best part was bouncing ideas and concepts back and forth, inspiring each other and building a great partnership. For being on opposite coasts, the collaboration was surprisingly smooth, I think Ernest and I just clicked really well and understood each other's passion for creativity and craftsmanship. Of course, the big payoff is at the end, seeing the product and being able to actually use and wear it, and to see the influences of this unique partnership in the details of the final product, it's so gratifying.
